K9 NoseSense is a practical learning platform for anyone that is interested in gaining a better understanding of our canine companions. Starting with foundation skills going through to advanced techniques and lots of extras in between, this is an integrated approach to canine education, teaching, empowering and motivating guardians in their understanding and application of each element and growing their skill-set.
Whether you are one person seeking to learn more about your furry family member, or you are working with dogs as a dog walker, carer, trainer, behaviour consultant, or rescue worker, there is something for everyone. Opportunities abound to gather information and improve your working relationship. By nurturing gentle, mindful interactions between dogs and their guardians, we can promote emotional, physical and mental well-being for both ends of the lead.
The emphasis is on nose-work and scent detection, combined with Animal Centred Education (ACE) techniques of 'free work' and detailed observational skills, (as developed by Sarah Fisher) and other force free science based learning methodology.
By demonstrating the art of observation and explaining the important significance of sensory enrichment and education, we work together to bring relaxation and confidence. We explore the autonomic nervous system and use Ttouch training principles such as bodywork and groundwork, incorporating games of engagement and applying teaching methodology inspired by other professionals working in the world of animal education and welfare.
Puppies are born with two primary senses, smell and sensory awareness and as they go through their lives sometimes attention to these senses gets left behind. K9 Nosesense offers opportunities to re-engage with those important navigation life skills and gives insight into aspects of growing trust and building teamwork between guardians and their four-legged companions.
We offer Skill Builder Sessions, one day, two day and three day workshops and our six week scent ID course.
