Just back from another brilliant 3 day Companion Animal Training Module at Tilley Farm with the lovely and always inspirational Sarah Fisher. For two of the days we also had the joy of learning from the brilliant Chirag Patel who shared his wealth of knowledge and experiences with us all. Together those two amazing teachers gave us learners a true insight into better understanding and enriching the lives of our four legged friends. Having the opportunity to practically apply some of the skills and techniques and observe the dogs as they explored the groundwork with freedom to choose meant we were able to share some truly magical moments with them and their guardians.
The weekend ended on a high for me as I was presented with my Certification as a Tellington TTouch Practitioner Apprentice by Sarah who I am proud to say has become a very special friend over the last 18 months and also sharing the joy of the moment with my two truly lovely supportive friends Karen and Angela and all the other amazing people enjoying the peace and tranquility of Tilley Farm.
Attending various training seminars and TTouch training workshops over the last two years and relearning and cementing the latest techniques and exploring and understanding the implications of the way we teach people and their dogs has been one of the best learning experiences of my life. Then practically implementing all the learning firstly with my own dogs and then sharing with clients and helping them grow and develop skills to better learn from their dogs has been a joy and a privilege. Add to all this 40 years of being owned by the best four legged teachers there are and there is still so much to learn! This weekend reinforced everything I have learnt and gave validation to what I do and the direction I am headed, as well as providing some more new and tasty ingredients to add to the range of training dishes on the Four Paws Learning menu.
At the end of the year I will no longer be a part of Talking Dogs Scentwork(R) and whilst I really enjoyed my time as an Accredited Trainer and all the lovely people I met along the way I now have a different and very exciting path to explore.
I will be specialising my work by teaching day to day skills and helping dogs and those who love them, by empowering them with knowledge, offering training tools and giving them the individual care and attention they need for their particular set of circumstances. Whilst I will still be teaching how to harness the power of your dogs nose this will be incorporated into the many other games and learning opportunities I will be sharing.
I have exciting plans and opportunities ahead in 2018. I am really looking forward to sharing Skills And Strategies to learn with our dogs by Teaching, Empowering And Motivating those with whom they share their lives in the mindful, gentle and respectful manner that is Tellington TTouch Training.
